we used to develop software differently not too long ago, software development was a tight, manual craft. one developer, one tester. file-by-file. line-by-line. the scope of what a single person could build and own was small by necessity. then came git. then open source exploded. suddenly you were standing on the shoulders of giants — pulling in libraries, frameworks, entire ecosystems that someone else had already built and battle-tested. a single developer could now own significantly larger slices of a system. the blast radius of one person’s output kept growing. ...

i’ve received polarizing views on this username. some people love it, some ask “why this username?”. so i thought i’d describe my thought process here let’s start with the elephant in the room - do i love papayas? yes, but just as much as i love guavas, bananas, pomegranates and melons. basically it’s one fruit in a basket i like being a jack of all and master of some. being a versatile person makes me happy. so i wanted a username which could convey this versatility while also keeping the tech background. once while randomly stalking projects on github i stumbled upon potatoproject. the username sounded versatile and cryptic enough to resonate - the only problem? it was taken. so i considered some variations - codepotato was next in line but i didn’t like how it sounded too similar to couchpotato. ...
